The map shows a simulation of the transport of "airport air" into the adjacent neighborhood. It is based on both wind direction and speed determined at the respective airports. 
The representation is intended to show the spreading of the jet exhaust which depends mainly on wind. In numerous studies, elevated concentrations of ultrafine particles (UFP), among others, have been detected in airport exhaust plumes. Since the concentration of UFP in the downwind plume of the airport also depends on the number of aircraft movements, any decrease in aircraft movements directly leads to a reduced concentration of UFP in the breathing air.
